CLE: 11 Things You Didn't Know About Criminal Law
Alex Scott is an Assistant District Attorney with the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit. He primarily prosecutes financially motived offenses, including abuse against elder and dependent adults.
During his five years as a prosecutor, Alex has taken more than 40 adult criminal cases to jury verdict, including multiple homicide prosecutions. His successful prosecution in State v. Willis—where two brothers were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to the Hard 50—occurred before he turned 30. Alex has also argued before the Kansas Court of Appeals on several occasions.
Alex graduated from the University of Missouri in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Psychology. In 2012, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, graduating Cum Laude.
When he’s not in the courtroom, Alex enjoys running, fly-fishing, traveling, and maintains a 10-handicap. A native Missourian, he’s a Chiefs, Royals, and Missouri Tigers fan. He currently resides in Olathe with his wife, Hallie.
